As you may know, driving differs in all countries. England, Australia and South Africa, just to name a few, all drive on the opposite side of the road than the United States. German highways aka Autobahns have no speed limits which I experienced first-hand and is everything I could have dreamed of. You won’t see police officers aiming their radars at vehicles here. However, something you may not know is that they do have speed limits on most roads, but one significant road sign (pictured on the right) cancels the posted limits on open roads. That’s when you put the pedal to the metal!
I’m naturally an aggressive driver and well aware of my surroundings, the two qualities that most German drivers have so I I fit right in. You might think that these are bad driving characteristics, but wait! Most German drivers are courteous and follow driving laws to the letter! Tip: America, please learn; only pass in the left line and move over to the right lane if you are in the the passing lane when a car is approaching quickly. To put it simply, be aware of your surroundings and know how to respond when something comes at you. These are principles we should apply not only in driving but in all areas of life.
